Meet The Team

The Instructors

Neil Boardman

As Chief Instructor, Neil oversees all circuit activity within The Racing School while also managing and training the pool of race instructors. Neil has been with the company over 13 years, initially working in engineering. In 2005 Neil became North West Formula Ford Champion in his first year of racing cars.

Stunt and Drifting Instructors

'Sideways' Sam Maher-Loughnan

Sam is a racing driver, car control expert and precision stunt driver, earning the nickname 'Sideways' Sam due to the ease with which he drives a car as it travels at 45 degrees to the road. He has a wealth of experience in competitive and commercial driving.

Winning the first race he ever entered, at Mondello Park, Sam has gone on to race and win in Formula Ford in the USA, achieve 5 consecutive wins in the Subaru cup, and has over 20 wins in the MR2 championship, 11 of which were in a single year. Commercially Sam has also been involved in testing for numerous brands, including Audi. He is a qualified stunt instructor having completed Hollywood Stunt legend Bobby Ore's stunt school in record time.

Sam is managing director of Get the Drift, which he established in early 2009 to teach UK driving enthusiasts the skills and techniques needed for drifting and stunt driving. Through Get the Drift Sam works exclusively with The Racing School on their Drifting and Stunt driving experiences.

Bradley Ellis

Bradley Ellis is one of the UK’s leading GT racing drivers. Aged just 21, he already holds the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship crown and was awarded the Ford Manufacturer Cup in 2008 as the highest scoring Ford driver.

He began his career karting in 1997 and in his first season he secured a Cadet karting title. MSA British Cadet and British Yamaha titles followed. In 2002 Bradley switched to Europe with Rambo Motorsport, adding the JICA Industrial Trophy to his CV.

Bradley's consistent form earned him a drive in the Italian team ITLOOX Racing, making his race car debut in Formula Renault Italia at the age of 16. In 2005 he was sole driver for Mark Burdett Motorsport competing in the Formula Renault UK Championship. The Avon Tyres British GT Championship beckoned in 2006 before graduating to the championship's GT3 category for 2007, equipped with a new Dodge Viper Competition Coupe. It was at Bradley's home track, Brands Hatch, where he earned a place in motorsport history by clinching Dodge's first British GT victory.

Taking the next step on the GT ladder, Bradley joined the FIA GT3 European Championship for 2008 having secured full membership to the British Racing Drivers' Club.

Karl Goshawk

Karl started racing karts at the age of 12, competing in both club championships and national championships against the likes of Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson. After cutting his teeth karting Karl moved into the competitive world of single seater racing, competing in the BRDC Formula Ford championship. Unfortunately a lack of budget cut his 2001 season short. In 2003 Karl moved to saloon cars where he raced in the SEAT Cupra Championship (one step below the British Touring Car Championship). Since 2003 Karl has been a full time racing instructor, coaching drivers in Caterhams sports cars and GT cars. In 2009 he joined Get the Drift to focus his skills on teaching

Karl's long term ambition is to compete in FIA GTs and the Le Mans Series.

The Engineers

Mark Tomlinson

Mark joined the team in 2006 to coincide with Rockingham becoming the 3rd venue. He has spent most of his career in Formula 1 working for the likes of Jenson Button and Ralf Schumacher at Williams F1. Mark and his team of engineers maintain and develop the varied fleet of race cars.
