The Racing School’s Joe Osborne Wins Both Races In Maiden GT3 Race!
TRS regular instructor, Joe Osborne joined an elite list of drivers to have scored race wins in their maiden race in the GT3 cup at Rockingham Motor Speedway.
Olney based racing driver Joe Osborne won both races in the British GT event at Rockingham Raceway at the weekend. The 20 year old who is enjoying a fantastic start to the 2009 season stepped up to the GT3 level for the first time and won both races.
Osborne said “the weekend just got better and better, to gain pole position after just two laps in qualifying and then to go on and win both races in my first GT3 meeting is fantastic.” To round off a great weekend the young driver was awarded the driver of the day award in recognition of his stunning drive in race two where he took the car from 6th place to 1st with some well judged overtaking manoeuvres.
Osborne was racing a brand new British built Ginetta G50Z sports car and was given the opportunity by the manufacturer as reward for his impressive start to the season. Joe is racing a GT4 specification Ginetta G50 in the GT4 European Cup in 2009 and after 4 podium finishes from 4 rounds is leading the championship by 14 points.
The GT4 European Cup races take place in 5 different countries across Europe with German round coming up next on the 21st June. Osborne’s recent performances are certainly attracting some attention including key motorsport journalists and he has recently become a regular columnist for the magazine “Track and Race Car.”
