Even youngsters can discover the thrill of driving at The Racing School. Here, young people from 12 to 16 years old can get behind a steering wheel for the first time in safe, controlled conditions with an ADI instructor who will teach them the rudiments of driving.
This experience is all about helping young learners to make the most of that crucial first drive – to learn more, to experience more and to have much more fun too.
At Rockingham the drive will be on perimeter roads, not the main circuit or oval circuit.
New for 2008
The Racing School has developed a programme for youngsters to progress their driving skills following the First Drive experience in preparation for their driving lessons and test. The programme involves a 2nd Drive, 3rd Drive and 4th Drive course, details of which are below.
2nd Drive – This involves attempting some of the manoeuvres from the current driving test, a lap of the Circuit (Oval or National) and a mock theory test.
3rd Drive – This involves a 1-1 mock driving test with the instructor, can you survive the whole test without getting any minors? You will also take to the track again (Oval or Circuit) for a lap of the UK’s fastest circuit.
4th Drive – This involves taking control of our BMW 3 Series mounted on skid frames and learning the finer art of skid avoidance and control. Everything you need to make you a great driver when you finally take to the roads.
This experience which includes such a crucial aspect of driving, will teach you invaluable skills that will remain with you for your driving future.
Drivers will be notified at the end of each course if they have passed and are eligible to progress on to the next stage.
The cost of the 2nd and 3rd Drive is £75 each. The 4th Drive is £99.
